Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Aba Coleman is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She has served as the Medical Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Center for Children and Women since November 2020. Dr. Coleman earned her undergraduate degree at Duke University, and subsequently pursued graduate studies at Harvard University, completing her Master of Education degree with a focus on Health Education in Underserved Areas. Dr. Coleman graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 2007, followed by internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine, during which she fulfilled the role of Administrative Chief Resident.
Within the Department, Dr. Coleman has served in several capacities, including as the current director of the Division of Ob/Gyn Population Health. Before joining The Center, Dr. Coleman practiced with the Baylor ObGyn faculty group and in the Harris Health System. She directed the prenatal program at Baylor Teen Health Clinics for many years.
Dr. Coleman has developed cervical cancer and Human Papillomavirus prevention initiatives in Houston, Ghana, and Malawi. She is a certified facilitator for Centering Pregnancy, and a faculty trainer for the Texas Children's Hospital relationship-centered communication initiative, in partnership with the Academy of Communication in Healthcare.
Dr. Coleman is dedicated to patient education, population-based interventions, and the provision of exceptional and equitable healthcare for all women.
